The mixture screw (bottom front of carb bowl) adjusts the load richness. It is not the main jet, it is a method of fine tuning the richness to meet demand at full load if working the tractor at near full power, and leaning it when using light loads. It can be adjusted in to make it lean enough to stumble when opened up, and rich enough to make it burn with a bit of black is worked hard. It should be played with a quarter turn at a time with the engine warmed up so that it just shows a very tiny bit of dark smoke when pulling at max HP/torque. If you are not working the tractor, it can be leaned so the exhaust is clean, but still goes from idle to full speed with no stumble. Jim
