Belt pulley had always felt like it had a "rough" bearing in it since I originally bought the tractor. (NO big deal since I never use it anyway.) Flash fore ward 14 years and now after just driving the tractor ,it is leaking gear grease around the outer seal on the belt pullet shaft.(Hasn't been used in 14+ years I can account for. ;)
Like I said,I doubt if I would ever be flat belting ANYTHING EVER,but I at least need to tend to the new leak. Is it a matter of pulling the entire gear box off and just going ahead with a total rebuild ,or am I able to able to undo those outer 3 bolts and pull that outer assembly out and re bearing and seal it with out removing the entire gear box,or would that just be doing a "half a$$ed" rebuild job???(Never redone one,and have NO manual in front of me to know what is going on at this point.)
I know I could just do the belt PTO delete plate, but if it isn't to much of a task,I might as well just redo the thing.
Thoughts,opinions???? Pointers,tips on rebuilding???
