A 986 has a cat 2 hitch and that left side can be pulled off and O-rings replaced without even draining the rear. Polish up any grooved or rusted parts . Parts book is confusing and shows two O-rings on right side but they are on the left side where that one is leaking. Have repaired many but they were usually on much newer tractors so wear may be a factor on this one. You need to get correct O-rings not some will fit jobbers. If it was a cat 3 you would have to pull whole shaft out to service and you also have to to do right side of this hitch.
