With respect to entry points I would suspect condensation, unless you have a bunch of water in there. Seems like the gear shifting level is pretty well protected by the metal flange. I drained a 560D that had sat out in the weather for 11+ years and got about a pint of water (keep in mind that is 11 years of semi arid Colorado weather). The water will be at the bottom - you might try draining it plus a bit of the hydraulic fluid after the tractors has been sitting unused for a good stretch of time (11 years did the trick!). I got water from both the front and rear drains, so keep that in mind. Others might be able to tell you if water will seperate from the fluid or if it stays suspended like mayonaise.
