According to an old sales brochure I have the 1000 was only available with a single-acting lift cylinder. On this kind of cylinder an internal leak basically means an external leak so you should be able to tell if that is the problem unless your loader has been updated with a double-acting cylinder. You could also install a reliable shut-off valve in the hose between the spool valve and cylinder. After raising the loader and shutting the valve note what happens. If the loader stays up, your problem is in the spool valve. If it still creeps down your problem is in the cylinder.
