Rented a "front end service set" from Advance Auto and used the pitman arm puller and tie rod end spreader to pull the lever up off the shaft without having to remove the steering wheel (simply needed a way to pull straight UP on that lever). Just need to be more careful of the threads in the future, I had to clean them up with a die. Heated cherry red the evening before and sprayed PB blaster on it after so that may have helped with the pull as it didn't fight too hard, but still definitely needed the puller tools.
