Hey Dancer just did the same on my M and make sure the wires are copper and not this new fiber threaded type they call supressed ignition those things arent right for this type of old iron.
I went to a local (not chain) auto parts store and bought a few feet of wire and the ends and it worked just fine. Might as well put new plugs and point while you are on that dide of the H.
