I'll tell you what happened with me and my F20.
After thoroughly cleaning the grooves on pistons,
I installed the new set of rings. No parts from
the old set....! Are your caps on the same rod
they came off of? Are they on in the same direction as when you removed them? What did you
torque the rod bolts at? If the the 12 is like the 20, you can do all the rings and rods from the bottom. Good luck.
