Hi can you rotate the suction line? There is only an O-ring keeping the suction filter locked in. But after 50 years the O-ring could be rusted in place.
Re 3pt going up, I would suspect leaking control valve or something wrong with draft control circuit. There is a plunger by 3pt top link housing at rear of hydraulic housing. The plunger should move in and out with the draft control lever. If this plunger is not functioning then the draft control mechanism inside the hydraulic housing is not functioning.
