Thanks guys for all the replies. I dropped the starter off this morning so I should get the prognosis soon.

The starter from my Farmall M does not turn at all when power is applied directly using a battery charger. Starter is off tractor and on the floor. I"ve tried tapping on the starter case with a hammer and that only changes it from drawing no current to pegging the battery charger out at full amperage draw.
I"ve got a place that does good work on these old electronics, but am wondering if there is something easy inside that could be fixed or does it need a rebuild?
Tractor is still 6V positive ground.
