Yet as one transfers the leaver action from the present place beside the seat on the later tractors; I am thinking of the B275 B414 type and the N9 ford my father had ; as you pushed down ,so went the implement SO transferring that action to the column it would MAKE WONDERFUL sense to push forward to go down as well. Just my warped thought mechanically speaking.
