If its working tractor switch it, if for show leave it original. I like the one wire alt that are available. On the one wire alts I hook up a pushbutton to the alt so I know that the alt is charging. Did this when multiple people use tractor, some did not rev up enough to charge. On other alts I install a relay in the reg circuit so there isn't any discharge on the battery.
