Today, 23 Dec, I finished restoring the seat for my 806 Farmall tractor as shown in the photograph above. This project involved mostly a rebuild of the suspension because the seat cushions were simply purchased at the local Fleet Farm store. The restoration involved cleaning, disassembly, installing new bushings at all pivot points, sandblasting, painting, installing a new shock absorber, and final assembly. Here is a breakdown of the costs: New seat cushions $94.44 Sandblasting 55.00 New shock absorber 60.11 New bushings 22.05 Paint (est.) 10.00 New decal for operator weight Free My labor Free TOTAL $241.60 The paint is just hardware store paint, so it is not 100% correct, but still the seat is now about 10 times better than it was before. A ton of thanks goes to Ken Updike at Carter and Gruenwald (608) 455-2411. He supplied the parts that I needed along with expert advice. As most of you know, he recently restored the first 806 built (serial No. 501), so he is quite an authority on them and all other Farmalls. Mine is the 26th one built. Apparently he gave me the decal at no charge because I don't see it listed on the receipt. He probably felt sorry for me after spending all that money on the other parts :-) I know I could have bought an aftermarket seat that would have fit for less cost and trouble, but I wanted the look of the original seat. Now what will I do for the rest of the winter? Merry Christmas to all.

On the Road with Dave Gohl: Tractor Club Beginnings - by Dave Gohl. I was surprised about a month ago when I got a call from a fellow tractor croonie. His message was interesting and to the point. He's says "Dave, I've been thinking about starting a Two Cylinder club for our area. What do ya think?" It was a loaded question. I said that I would be interested, and was wondering what his next step was. (Although I was talking under my breath, since I thought of this some years ago) My friend, Arlyn Lamb of Lakeville, Minnesota was sincere in his miss
