Sounds like its only running on 3 cylinders to me, and the fan noise sounds like either its hitting or its the mag clicking. If you can run it with the mag advanced, then its not timed right.
The float setting on mine is lower than spec. No matter what I did I could not get it to run right at spec. Guy on here suggested putting an extra gasket under the seat, and worked like a charm. I left it alone and it has een running better ever since. Its been giving me a fit starting sometimes, but it runs great.
