Hi Plowboy, I've written several post over on the tool board about welding cast-iron and the procedures to do so. It can rewelded very satisfactory. Drill the ends of the crack about 1/2" from where they stop, clean very well 2" on either side of the crack, v-notch the crack, preheat 300 degrees, weld with a good quality ni-cad or braze weld using ni-cad as a filler rod, let cool slowly by buring in sand or dirt or a heat blanket.
