I owe an update to you guys on my 240U. So many ask for advice and never let you know what happened.
This tractor was running rough and overheating. We pulled the head and the valves were badly coked up, some looked burned, and one even had a chunk missing. I also suspect a leaky head gasket.
I bought a valve seat cutter and a new set of valves, and did 'em myself. The guides had almost no play in them. I've seen worse.
Dad and I put the head back on yesterday. It purrs like a kitten now. Warmed right up to 200 degrees, thermostat popped open, and it started pumping coolant.
