I got my I-4 running Friday for the first time in 15 years and it runs great. When it is running, there are no leaks at all, but when I shut the engine off, oil starts leaking from the lower petcock on the oil pan. I tried tightening the valve up more, but I'm worried that I'll twist it out of the oil pan. Is there a way to get it to stop leaking because it leaks at a rate of 1 drop per 3 seconds for 15-20 minutes?
When I open the petcock to check the oil it makes kind of a crunching sound like there is some grit inside of the seat. Is it possible to replace the petcocks in the oil pan because the upper one is missing the little diamond shaped knob too?
