There is a relief hole on the back side of the dist but not on the adaptor housing you are showing in the photo. So, like you say, if you over grease that adaptor housing, yes it will go out the front but if you only grease it like book says, it would be a tiny amount over time, no problem. And the distributor, there is a well inside surrounding part of bushing and being porous it will work it's way through. One thing about those kind of bushings, they cannot be reamed as that destroys the porosity so you have to have an exact fitting bushing if you replace them.
