Found something interesting today. I am restoring a '35 F12 and have it pretty far along. Today's job was to be replacing the main and rod bearings and rings. Mains first. I removed the rear main and found the replacement didn't fit. So, I called Gordon Rice (where I bought parts 814-226-9200) and asked Gordon what might be going on. He asked me to check the serial number on the crankshaft. Yep, he said, you have one of the early ones that was recalled so that the crankshaft and piston rods could be replaced with stronger ones. This was done in '36, but not to mine. Since most of the early ones were converted and all of the later ones used different bearings, I am out of luck for replacing mains and rod bearings. Good thing the old ones aren't in too bad of shape. Thanks for the info, Gordon.
