Dave,when the tractor dogged down,Ill bet you very quickly slaped the gear shift,causing it to go into 2 gears at one time.You need to get it in netural,pull it to the barn where its easy to work on.While your at it have someone or yourself if able take a welder and build up the shift fork.This is a normal problem and fix for these old tractors.Some where in the archives is a picture of what the fork is supose to look like when welded
