Maybe lookup the board of directors/members for the Edgar Steam Show. I don't know of any steam shows any further north or west than that.
There is a guy by the name of Ira that parts out tractors for a living. I'm sure you could go wrench down there and pick some stuff up. He didn't seem like the teaching type when I met him. He has stuff listed on ebay from time to time.
