It should be Positive ground as stated above (or below). There will be a wire connecting the starter switch (either a round can relay or a rod and pull lever switch) to the electrical box. The wire connects inside to the amp meter. (it should be the only thing attached. The light switch should be connected either to the voltage regulator L terminal, or the other terminal on the amp gauge. The ignition push pull switch (or key) should be connected to that same amp gauge terminal. A 4 to 5 volt draw would either be lights or at least make heat. Jim
