I've heard water doesn't work either, People drain it out and the tank goes BOOM anyhow. I like your idea of Argon or CO2. The Farm Show article said to start something like a lawn mower, 10-16 HP, let it run exhaust into the tank for a LONG period of time, and let it continue while you repaired the tank. The bigger the tank, the longer the time & size engine required. Like I said, I've never done it, I'm just repeating something I read 2 yrs ago.
