Not all that surprising. Some gasoline goes bad pretty fast. I follow two rules regarding gasoline in my old tractors. 1) Never, but never, use gasoline that contains alcohol. 2) If a tractor is going to set unused for longer that 3 or 4 months, drain all the gasoline out of the tank, run the engine until it stops for lack of fuel and drain the carburetor. Sometimes on smaller, newer equipment I use fuel stabilizer. After an infestation, I've also started using a bacteria inhibitor in the Diesel fuel of my one Diesel rig.
