Farmall H PTO seal

Someone told me you can replace the PTO seal on an H without draining the rear end by just parking the front wheels in a ditch. True? Also, like any repairs on 49-year-old tractors, will the bolts come out or break off? I am sure this question has been posted before but I am new to this business
