Not the best practice. on a mag tractor, a second wire to a hidden switch then to ground will be effective. THe mag can form an internal trace of carbon from arcing inside. It can be hard to diagnose and can result in a failed coil insulation. A coil can be dammaged but will usually flash over to the small terminals doing no harm. A stolen or kid driven tractor is much worse than even a failed mag, but a coil es easy to replace. Jim

Today's Featured Article - Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
