Definitely it could be the battery. To isolate the problem from the battery, first charge the battery and then disconnect the battery. After the usual time has lapsed for it to discharge, reconnect the battery and attempt to start the tractor. If it starts, the problem is not the battery. However, it sounds as if there is a drain on the battery. This drain could come from numerous sources such as defective wiring insulation, bad regulator, incorrect wiring, faulty switch, etc. If you have a digital volt ohm meter you could check for a small current drain. Without a meter sometimes a small 12 volt panel bulb can be placed between a battery cable and its corresponding battery post. If there is any glow with the switch off then there is a drain that should not exist. I read that you are using a generator. Your problem is not nearly as prevelant with a generator as it is with an alternator. With an alternator the drain is typically through the regulator built in the alternator. Hope this helps.
