Dave I live in MI I would say your about right with the 6-18 to 8-18. Just depends on how fast you want to go,flat the ground is, and how deep you plow. I have plowed with the same 6-16 trailer plow with an 806 to a 1466 the 14 played with it at about 10 inches and the 806 worked good at about 6-8 inches With and without duals on both tractors. We also pull a 24Ft vibra shank deep then shallow to fit ground for planting in the spring from bean stubble. We have flat to hilly ground. Heavy to light ground. These figures are for the heavier clay ground.
