Friend of mine with a 4640 JD, about the same HP as a 1586, pulled a 8X18 when it was new. Plow was JD on-land adjustable width, and as the tractor aged and lost something, he changed the plow to 16". Had axle mount duals and weighted tractor. I'd think a 7x16" would be okay on an older tractor you don't want to load 100%. Also pulled a Krause 25 1/2' Flex-Wing disk with that tractor.
