Alkali when dry is like ripping concrete, when wet it's like grease. The saying around here is you have about 15 minutes between too wet and too dry. We were testing electronic draft control systems, and the brand of tractor really didn't make much difference for what we were trying to learn. And we were going a lot deeper than 6' also. Personally, I never had the chance to operate it in the field, but was involved in making and installing equipment on the tractor.
