I want to register my 140 I've had for 2 years now, and I am still having hell's own time trying to find a serial number. All the tags are gone, I've checked evrywhere I've been told to check, and nothing there. They were removed at some time or other. On the engine, up front, above the distributor on a machined flat is a number like 8585V, and I was told on this site that this is just a part number. Other numbers are cast in the block, like the firing order. This 8585 number is actually stamped into the flat. I will register this tractor as soon as I can dig up the number. My friend has the mate to it, they were purchased together years ago, and he and I bought them from the second owner at the same time. Mine was used more, and in worse shape, but I gott'er running like a dream now. Hopefully, I'll eventually figger it out. jo
