Your right. The 550 is a converted 549 gas. The nine liter is basically the same as the 550 with a different combustion chamber. If you look at the heads of a 550 you can see on the casting where the spark plugs were supposed to go. They were junk engines but they make a nice collector tractor engine. The sound is unreal.
