I have a 300 utility I bought last year in running condition. I have about 30 hours on it since then. I found antifreeze in the oil last week, so I'm replacing the head gasket.
There was no filter in there when I opened the canister! I got a new oil filter at the local NAPA store and I'll be jimmied if I can find the replacement gasket. The filter is about half the height of the canister and there is literally nothing to hold it in place, except good thoughts and magic. I did see a ridge on the inlet, and thought maybe that force fits down into the inlet and clips into place or something, but that would be stupid. And of course the manuals I bought last year have run away from home.
Do I have the wrong filter? Is there supposed to be a spring or fitting to hold the filter down into the inlet? What keeps the oil from leaking out the top of the canister? Who has the right filter is napa is selling me the wrong one?
