Support placed inder the mating surface of the drive housings after the pans have been removed is very effective in several ways. It is wide enough to prevent tipping. It is sturdy. If bolts are put into the housing with the pan off, the bolt heads will provide a protection for the surface. DO NOT. use concrete blocks. They are good only if the full upper and lower surfaces are in force contact with the floor or lifted object, They shatter and near explode with point loading. It is just not worth the risk.
