I was using my 1967 Farmall 656 on the hay baler last Thursday and had an issue when trying to change gears. It felt like it was stuck in a high gear or maybe in two different gears. Let it set and pulled the baler away and hooked to another tractor to finish baling. A retired neighborhood IH tractor mechanic stopped by this morning and freed the linkage with a small pry bar behind the battery cover. He indicated it was a "weak link" on the 656's and thought that IH came out with a "fix kit" to resolve this problem. My 656 TC-114 Parts Catalog (9/1966 print date) makes no reference to such a "kit". Is anyone familiar with this kit and where might one be obtained? First time this has ever happened since I have owned this tractor? Thanks for any information or assistance in this matter, Hal.
