My wife and I just returned from a vacation in Curacao, Island south in the carribean. We hired a driver for a couple of hours. I questioned him on the price of fuel. Diesel was $2.50 gal. Gas is $5.00 . the van was Hyandi Diesel w/5speed. 40mpg. driver says diesel is always cheaper because it is easy to create at the refinery they have on island. So many diesel small vehicles on the islands. they all report 40-50 mpg. I remember when Diesel was the fuel that was the cheapest because it was an easy creation at the refinery.
