Yes that's a SMTA serial number. Only the regular SM tractors used the F or L prefix. If worried about the engine being original. Look above the engine oil filter housing for C-264 cast on the block. Then look on toward the front of the engine near the same level for a date code in raised cast letters like 5*?*Z or 6*?*Z. Also find the engine serial number stamped in just above the metal cover near the same area. Raised flat spot below the number 2 or 3 spark plug.
