Look close on the back edge and you can find some slots to use to pry it out. Needs to come out pretty even. Has a oring on it and fits pretty tight. Or put a long 5/8 fine thread bolt in the pinion shaft end hole and with something heavy to slide (or slide hammer or other) and hammer the pinion shaft out and the plate will come out also. Inspect the shaft and bearing and just slide it back in if good. Seal is easy to remove and install with the plate removed. May also need the oring if damaged.
