Im thinkin some metal came loose in there and is shorting out the brushes or a spring came off a brush..Ive taken them apart and hooked the brushes to the wrong fields-sparks and real lazy..(easy to do)I take my starters to A&B auto electric Burnsville MN..952-894-5147..had a new starter drive put in WD-9 sarter..in and out the door $70
