I've pondered that one myself for something over 50 years. Same on the brake adjusters, as I recall. Redundancy exemplified. Now, if the two o-rings on the shuttle solid rocket boosters had been truly redundant, rather than just claimed to be, one January day in 1986 might have had a whole different outcome. But I digress.
