I want to thank all of you for all the information and interest you have shown regarding my Farmall A. It has been great fun reading all your responses. A little background on me--I grew up in the city but have always had an interest in tractors. I retired from the Marine Corps 14 years ago after serving for 20 years. I was and still am a diesel mechanic and love to tinker with engines, etc. My wife and I love and collect a wide variety of antiques and she loves the tractor as much as I do, especially since she was born and raised in Indiana. We've been looking at tractors on ebay for several months and the cost of shipping always made them so much more expensive. This opportunity came up from a guy at work and the price was right and there was no shipping involved. So how could I refuse! Thanks for all the web sites and other information you have provided me. Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
