I have found 2 numbers for my SM main bearing torque. There is no IH service manual for the SM that I am aware of. There is a 4 cyl gas engine manual (ISS 1039-1) that covers most of the gas engines, mostly oriented to power units if that makes a difference. Anyway that manual gives a torque value of 67 ft lbs, the M service manual and the I&T manual both give 100 ft lbs. What is the correct value? There is a difference in the crankshafts. M up to sn 278050 has a main journal of 2.74xx diameter according to the I&T manual. I&T manual and the ISS 1039-1 manuals give a diameter of 2.80xx for later serials and the C264 up. I am guessing that the 100 ft lb for all is correct but I am not sure. Any help appreciated. Also the cap has thick washers for the bolts, one of them broke. Do I have to use the thick washer or can I simply stack plain washers to get that thickness?
