I'm a farmer, & I'm always surprised when people buy tractors without knowing what the features of it are! When buying an IH tractor, you really should know if the TA is good or not before putting money down on the deal. No difference to me, but your comment just amazes me! :) Anyhow, the pto lever is off when it's to the front, and on when the lever is to the back. Does it latch in both directions, sometimes it gets dirt in the latch area. Since it has a pto brake, it should stop for you. The TA is a nice thing to have, gives you twice as many gears to pick from. Often the low (slower) side goes out on them, you can still use the high side. I think about $500-600 in parts will fix it, plus labor, doesn't sound like you would be able to tackle the job. This lever can be moved while you are driving, without using the clutch - it's a hi-lo thing. However, I hate to go from lo range to hi with any kind of a load behind me... --->Paul
