1/0 or heavier is the way to go. Welding cable and ends will probably cost a lot less than store bought. Remember 6 volt systems need a heavier cable than 12. Consider that most ground circuts run through the tractor and were dependent on rust/paint free connections between all the various iron parts. I ran my ground right back to the starter mounting bolt. Agree w/ the value of soldering to the crimp on connectors. All that new shiny wire just loves to turn green.
