There is a good story about the IH Custom tractors in Red Power Magazine from a couple years back.
The reason IH built these was to compete with the green 4000. The 4000 was a stripped down verison of the 4020 also known as the "poor mans 4020". Not wanting team green w/ yellow wheels to get all of the "poor man market", IH built the customs.
