Hi, my brother has 454, 3230 & 684 with ether start and 495 with the heater in the intake manifold. On the old caseih.com parts site you could find a picture of the fuel line to the heater. It appears to burn fuel in the intake manifold to heat the intake air. Turn key to ON position and then push in and hold for 30 secs or so then switch to start position. It worked pretty good. The best starter is the D-206 in the 3230, he says it starts without ether, even below 0F. JimB
