There's a thing on eBay i bought called Sloppy Shifter Fix, consists of a bar and a shaft that holds the shifter in place on H's, M's, etc., and might on Cubs also. Check it out. $25. Like Janicholson said, the nub-end of the shifter might be worn, you can get it rewelded back to where it fits int he shifter rails properly. On H's they need to be 3/4" fore and aft, and about 0.43" thick. Cubs might be similar, you cuold check the shifter rails and see what it needs.
