The holes are vents for the clutch in the TA, you may have some seals in the TA leaking or check the oil level in the front of the TA and the Transmisson, they may be over filled. The seasonal disconnect is to disconnect the pto so the sun gears doesn't in the pto unit, This saves a lot of wear on the unit. Glad to hear that you solve the dieseling trouble. Mine will get better in years. It only does it when it hot and I have been working it hard.
