painting Super A

I have my 51 Super A primed and taped ready to paint tomorrow weather permitting. I have 2 questions (this is my first attempt) I have sanded and primed a couple of times trying to remove some dimples on the hood. Should I paint on the primer unsanded or sand it lightly before I spray it?
Also, do I need to cover the radiator? I didnt know if the paint spray may clog the vents in it. My grill does have the wire screen behind.
Thanks as usual for any advice and I will try to post a picture of it when complete
