I have read the YT article on converting the M to 12 volt alt.and have a few questions. I have been running the old H on 12 volts all summer without a charging system, now I want to put an alt. on for winter. In the article it says to use an idoit light and run a wire back to the alt from the amp meter. I would like to not have the light and not use the amp meter for now. I think I read here that you could use a jumper wire on the spade pronge of the alt. and run a 10 ga wire to the starter button from the batt. lug. Will this work ok? Can I test this with a volt meter at the battery? I don;t want to ruin a rebuilt alt. Thanks
